Tego Leo is a former street racer from the Dominican Republic, the friend of Rico Santos, and a member of Dominic Toretto's Crew. Driven by his desire to help his community out through criminal activity, Tego and Rico came to the aid of Dominic and his other teammates when they were framed by Hernan Reyes for the deaths of three DEA agents, and to help steal $100 million to start new lives.
Several years later, Tego and Rico aided in the rescue of Brian Marcos on the behest of Dominic, who is the son of Dominic and his former lover Elena Neves, when he was kidnapped by the notorious cyberterrorist, Cipher. They secretly posed as ambulance drivers so they could recover Deckard Shaw after Dom faked Deckard's death.
Biography
Meeting Dominic Toretto
Sometime between 1989 and 1991, Tego Leo was sent to Lompoc Prison for blowing up a bank with his friend Rico Santos, although Tego claimed that it mainly was because they were "driving while brown" and didn't care about the fact that they blew up a bank. While serving their sentence, it was there they first met Dominic Toretto, who was serving a two year sentence at Lompoc for assaulting Kenny Linder for the death of his father, Jack Toretto.
Freed from Prison
While in the Dominican Republic, Tego was sent to prison for unspecified reasons. While in prison, Tego lamented the harmful influence of major corporations attempting to hold back alternate means of energy to provide to the public. Later that night, Tego was freed by Dominic and Rico Santos, the latter who cuts a hole in the prison fence.
Oil Hijackings
After Togo's liberation, he and Rico reconnoiter at a local club where Dominic meets with their contact, Elvis, a politician who provides them a window of opportunity to hijack an oil tanker owned by a rich corporation to aid an impoverished community due to rising gas prices.
Tego and Rico participate in the oil tanker hijack, driving a modified Chevrolet R3500. After the first two tankers are stolen by Han Seoul-Oh and Cara Mirtha, Tego turns around into reverse gear and pulls up behind the tanker.
Rico then grabs a hook and lays it down, connecting it to the tanker. When Letty is able to disconnect the oil tank from the truck, Tego and Rico are able to pull away and escape with the oil tank. Later, Tego and Rico were given each get an equal share of the money earned from the stolen fuel.
Following the death of Fenix Calderon and the arrest of Arturo Braga, Dominic was sentenced to prison with no possibility of parole for his past crimes. When Mia Toretto and Brian O'Conner plot to free him before he arrives at Lompoc Prison, they enlist the help of Tego and Rico. The two flank the prison transport in a modified Pontiac Trans-Am.
Rio Heist
When Dominic and Brian escape to Rio de Janeiro, they were framed for murder of three DEA agents by corrupt businessman Hernan Reyes after a botched car heist on a civilian train. After planning to steal money from Hernan, they reassemble their team, Tego was recruited once again to be a part of the Vault Heist alongside Rico.
As a pair they do much of the background work for the major heist at the police station, such as setting the explosives in the toilet cubicles and posing as repairmen, after which they hack into the CCTV so that Dom and his crew can see the inner-workings of the station and plan the heist.
Tego, like the rest of the crew races the police car around the make-shift track but fails, like the others, to be undetected by the cameras. During the final chase they drive the garbage truck in which the safe containing Reyes' money with the dummy safe.
Once they receive their share of the stolen money, both Tego and Rico visit a casino in Monaco where they play roulette. Tego places all of his chips on red, whilst Rico places his on black. It's never revealed who wins and who loses. It's implied that the ball fell on green.
Gambling in Monte Carlo
When Dominic and the others are reunited in London to apprehend Owen Shaw and find Letty, Brian asks about Tego and Rico. Han Seoul-Oh explained that the two were last seen hitting up the casinos of Monte Carlo.
Recovering Deckard Shaw
Leo appears alongside Santos in New York City to recover Deckard Shaw as part of a plan to help Dom save his son from Cipher.
Returning for a Barbecue
After the Project Aries mission, Santos joins the rest of his crew mates for a barbecue at 1327, which is being rebuilt after it's destruction in 2014, When Mia asks the whereabouts of Leo, Santos tells her that Leo opened a restaurant in Brooklyn, saying that the food he made is bad, but the hipsters who visits Leo's restaurant will eat anything.
Dante Reyes' Vengeance
When Dominic discovered Dante's vision board, he discovers a list of people that Dante has been tracking that he intends to get revenge with. One of these people being Leo whose name appears on his list due to his involvement in the Rio Vault Heist.
Abilities
- Expert Drivers: Much like Santos, he is an expert street racer.
- Expert Handyman: He and Santos are skilled handyman since Dom and his crew often needs the duo to drill and dig through wall in many jobs.
- Cooking: Leo has shown some level of culinary skill but his foods are seen as bad by the crew and even Santos. Roman even stated that he should attend cooking lesson.
