A 1965 Ford GT40 appeared in Fast Five as one of the DEA-seized cars that was to be heisted.
Fast Five[]
After Zizi tells his men in Portuguese that the GT40 is his, Dom tells Mia to drive it, and tells her to drive back to their hideout instead. This is what causes Zizi's men to fight Dom and Brian, with their struggle causing three DEA agents to be murdered by Zizi, the train nearly being derailed, a rare Corvette to be destroyed by water, and Dom and Brian to be apprehended by Hernan Reyes, who was the owner of the GT40.
After returning to their hideout, the protagonists find out that the GT40's in-car entertainment system held a computer chip containing the locations of ten cash houses - each holding $10 million. This discovery, prompts Dom and Brian to form a team with their previous known used associates, to steal Reyes' $100 million.
The car is last seen when Hobbs raids their hideout, and has his men attempt to put together the car Dom took apart (Dom took the car apart to see why Zizi wanted it so badly and was unaware to the existence of the secret chip until Vince attempted to take it). Hobbs then notices the card tray and remarks "it's a shame to put bullshit like that on a classic."
Trivia[]
- The GT40 in the movie is not an actual Ford GT40, but a replica built solely for the movie.
- In real-life, the Ford GT40 competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans races, being built by Ford to defeat Ferrari after a deal went wrong. The GT40 took Ford its first win in a 1-2-3 finish in the 1966 Le Mans race. It would then continue its winning streak in 67, 68, and 69.

- GT40s were all one-off, RHD race cars, and authentic ones in good shape can sell for $1.5M. "We found two really nice kit cars to use as [hero cars] for about $80K each," Dennis explains. Since the GT40’s role is to be driven slightly less abusively than the Vette, only one stunt car was built with a Racecar Replica kit and bare-bones crate motor for about $30,000 USD.
